วันก่อนไปงานแต่งงานรุ่นพี่คนนึงในออฟฟิศ แล้วพบว่า มีคนมากมายถามเรื่องการผูกไท

เลยมานั่งนึก ๆ ดูว่า เอ ตูผูกไทเป็นตั้งแต่เมื่อไหร่หว่า จำได้ว่า เริ่มผูกไทครั้งแรกตอนม.ปลายในงานโรงเรียน
มาผูกอีกทีก็ตอนเข้าจุฬา อยู่ปี 1 อีกทีก็ตอนฝึกงานปี 3 หลังจากนั้น ก้อมีบ้างประปราย เวลาไปงานก็ผูกมั่งไม่ผูกมั่งมาตลอด
เวลาผูกก็ผูกเป็นอยู่แบบเดียว จนจะเรียนจบนั่นแหล่ะ ถึงผูกเป็นเพิ่มอีกแบบ หลังจากค้นคว้าเพื่อมาเขียน blog นี้แล้ว
ก็พบว่า แบบที่ผูกเป็นตอนแรก เค้าเรียกว่า Four-in-Hand knot เป็นรูปแบบที่ง่ายที่สุด ผูกได้เร็วที่สุด
แต่ผูกออกมาแล้ว จะทุเรศนิด ๆ เพราะมันเบี้ยว ๆ ส่วนอีกวิธีที่ตอนหลังมาผูกเป็นคือ Windsor Knot

ทีนี้ มันมีวิธีผูกหลัก ๆ อยู่ 4 วิธี ตามนี้

1. The Four-in-Hand Knot
2. Half Windsor Knot
3. Windsor Knot
4. Pratt Knot

1. The Four-in-Hand Knot

Step 1 - Start with the wide end "A" and extend it about 12 inches below narrow end "B".
Now cross the wide end "A" over narrow end "B"

Step 2 - Now, turn the wide end "A" back underneath the narrow end "B"

Step 3 - Continue by bringing the wide end "A" back over in front of the narrow end "B" again.
Do not pull tight as you want the wide end "A" to ride along the narrow end "B" in a later step

Step 4 - Now, pull the wide end "A" up, behind, and through the loop around your neck

Step 5 - Now, hold the front of the knot loosely with your index finger and thumb and
bring wide end "A" down through front loop. As you pull through, slide your index finger
under the knot and begin to tighten the knot and squeezing the sides of the knot -
this will begin to form the dimple

Step 6 - Remove your finger from under the knot and squeeze the bottom of the knot
to form a tiny channel right underneath the knot. That is your dimple.
Now tighten the knot carefully to collar by holding narrow end "B" and sliding the knot up.
Fluff up the two sides of tie under the knot on either side of the channel.
This is the finishing touch to that tiny dimple with the fluffed up sides.

2. Half Windsor Knot

Step 1 - The wide end "W" should extend about 12 inches below the narrow end "N".
Cross the wide end "W" over the narrow end "N".

Step 2 - Bring the wide end "W" around and behind the narrow end "N".

Step 3 - Bring the wide end "W" up.

Step 4 - Pull the wide end "W" through the loop.

Step 5 - Bring the wide end "W" around front, over the narrow end "N" from right to left.

Step 6 - Again, bring the wide end "W" up and through the loop.

Step 7 - Bring the wide end "W" down through the knot in front.

Step 8 - Using both hands, tighten the knot carefully and draw it up to the collar.

3. Windsor Knot

Step 1 - The wide end "W" should extend about 12 inches below the narrow end "N".
Cross the wide end "W" over the narrow end "N".

Step 2 - Bring the wide end "W" up through the loop between the collar and your tie; then back down.

Step 3 - Pull the wide end "W" underneath the narrow end "N" and to the right,
back through the loop and to the right again so that the wide end "W" is inside out.

Step 4 - Bring the wide end "W" across the front from right to left.

Step 5 - Pull the wide end "W" up through the loop again.

Step 6 - Bring the wide end "W" down through the knot in front.

Step 7 - Using both hands, tighten the knot carefully and draw it up to the collar.

4. Pratt Knot

Step 1 - Start with the tie inside out, the wide end "W" under the narrow end "N".

Step 2 - Take the wide end "W" over and under the narrow end "N".

Step 3 - Pull the loop down and tighten.

Step 4 - Take the wide end "W" over to the right.

Step 5 - Pull the wide end "W" up, behind the loop.

Step 6 - Bring the wide end "W" through the knot and tighten gently.

ทิปเล็กน้อยสำหรับการผูกเนคไท

- เมื่อใส่ไทแล้ว ปลายไทควรจะอยู่บริเวณขอบกางเกงพอดี สั้นกว่านั้นจะดูเต่อ ๆ ถ้ายาวไป ก็ดูน่าเกลียด

- ในกรณีที่ใส่เชิ๊ตสีอ่อน สีไทควรเข้มกว่าสีของเชิ๊ต แต่ถ้าเสื้อเชิ๊ตสีเข้ม เช่นสีดำ ควรจะใส่ไทสีอ่อน เช่น สีเหลือง หรือแดง พูดง่าย ๆ คือ ใส่ไทแล้ว สีควรจะตัดกับเชิ๊ต ไม่ควรใส่ให้สีมันกลืน ๆ กัน

- ถ้าไม่ได้ต้องการความฉูดฉาดหวือหวา ประเภทไปงานเปิดตัวแฟชั่นแล้วหล่ะก็ หลีกเลี่ยงไทที่สีสันแสบตา หรือสีอ่อนมาก ๆ เช่นสีขาว ในงานพิธีการทั่วไป
แต่ก็ไม่ควรใส่ให้กลืน กันไปกับเสื้อผ้า จนไม่สามารถสังเกตเห็นไทได้เลย

- ถ้าเป็นไท มีลวดลาย สีพื้นของไท ควรจะ match กับสีของเสื้อสูท ในขณะที่ สีของลวดลาย ควรจะดึงความโดดเด่นของเชิ๊ตออกมา

- เนื้อผ้า/ลายของเนคไท ควรสอดคล้องกับเสื้อ shirt เช่น ถ้า ไทผ้าไหมที่มีความแวววาว ก็ควรจะใส่กับเสื้อผ้าไหมเช่นกัน ไม่ใช่ใส่เสื้อผ้าไหมมันวับ กับไทขน wool

- ไทสีดำ ใช้สำหรับงานศพเท่านั้น ไม่ควรนำไทสีดำไปใช้ในงานอื่น ๆ
- ความกว้างมาตรฐานของไทจะอยู่ที่ 3.5 นิ้ว เป็นความกว้างมาตรฐานทั่วไป ที่ไม่ได้อิงตามแฟชั่น สามารถใส่ได้ทุกงาน
- ความกว้างของไท ควรจะกว้างเป็นสัดส่วนที่เหมาะสมกับปกเสื้อนอก ถ้าปกเสื้อนอกกว้าง ไทก็ควรจะกว้างเช่นกัน
- ขนาดของปมไท ควรจะสัมพันธ์กับขนาดของคอปกเสื้อเชิ๊ต ถ้าติดกระดุมคอเสื้อแล้ว เหลือมุมคอปกแคบ ควรจะผูกไทปมเล็ก ๆ ไม่ควรผูกให้ใหญ่จนดันคอเสื้อเผยอ ออกมา
